Kalinga Shikshya Samaj is a society registered under the Societies’ Registration Act of 1860 in Delhi vide Regn. No. S-24747/93. This is primarily a socio-cultural-cum-educational organisation working for the promotion and preservation of Odia language, literature, art, architecture, highlighting the synthesis of Odishan culture with regard to its contribution for greater national harmony. The Samaj has been running Odia language classes in primary sections of Sarvodaya Vidyalaya, Shahpur Jat, New Delhi in co-operation with the Govt. of NCT Delhi since 1994-95. The Samaj is paying for teacher’s salary, Odia books, and transportations facilities of Odia community who predeominantly belong to the economically weaker sections of the society. The Samaj regularly organises cultural functions on national festival days like Independence Day, Odisha Day, Republic Day, Gandhi Jayanthi etc. It also organises lectures, symposiums, debates etc. on subjects like education, culture and environment. Members of the Samaj have acted as volunteers during natural calamities such as cyclone Phailin that struck Odisha recently, Gujarat earthquake, Tsunami and also contributed its mighty for the cause of Kargil war. The Samaj and its active members also organise medical camps in association with philonthropic institutions, distribute water during the peak summer to the general public.
